The
US Senate has passed a resolution designating July as an anti-counterfeiting consumer awareness month. S.Res. 542 recognizes
the 70th anniversary and the importance of the signing of the “Act of July 5, 1946” (commonly
referred to as the “Trademark Act of 1946” or the “Lanham Act”) by President
Harry S. Truman.
The intent
is to promote the importance and need for comprehensive federal, state and
private sector-supported education and awareness efforts designed to equip
consumers with information and tools to safeguard against and reduce the supply
of and demand for illegal counterfeit products.
