Retired General Keith Alexander who served as Director of the
National Security Agency and Commander of the United States Cyber Command
referred to cyber crime as the "greatest transfer of wealth in human
history". The anonymity provided by cyberspace and the sheer number of
connected people and devices ensures cyber crime will remain an area of growth
for criminal networks and of risk for individuals, businesses and governments.
Since 2004, October has been identified as National Cyber
Security Awareness Month. This annual campaign, initiated by the National Cyber
Security Alliance (NCSA) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS),
aims to raise awareness and increase the resiliency of our nation, its citizens
and businesses.
We each play a critical role in protecting information and
networks from cyber threats and managing risk throughout the electronics supply
chain.
ERAI encourages you to visit the DHS website to check out this
week’s theme:
Week 2: October 10-14, 2016 – Topic: Cyber from the Break Room to the Board
Room
We are all part of protecting personal and organizational data in the
workplace. From CEO to incoming entry-level employee, each organization’s
cybersecurity posture is reliant on a shared level of vigilance and awareness.
Week 2 looks at how every employee can promote a culture of cybersecurity at
work.
